“Movement never lies. It is a barometer telling the state of the soul’s weather to all who can read it. This might be called the law of the dancer’s life” – Martha Graham
The quest for an authentic expression finds roadblocks, most of the time…it is these roadblocks that forge a purer form of expression, on that springs from pleasure, galvanized by pain and materializes from the inevitability of the dancers truth. In my ongoing attempt to address the space between movement of dance and stasis of its captured stills, I notice each instance is a state of perfection, that there is no precedent, nor is there a new one – each movement is as new and terrifying in its potential for extreme hope and deep despondence.
